Green Energy Group is pleased to announce that EPD Denmark has published a new Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for our ultra-lightweight, flexible solar panels.
The EPD provides transparent, independently verified data on the environmental impact of our solar panels, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and helping architects, engineers, and developers make informed decisions for their projects. It documents the carbon footprint of our solar panels from cradle to grave, and verifies that they have a low carbon emissions profile of 9.86 g CO₂e per kWh.
Our LCA and EPD report was prepared by Artelia, one of Denmark’s largest multidisciplinary engineering consultancies. Their expertise and guidance played a key role in ensuring that our EPD verification process met the highest standards. This report was then verified by EPD Denmark.
What is an EPD?
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a standardised document that assesses and reports the environmental impact of a product throughout its entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to disposal. Developed in accordance with recognised European and international standards, an EPD provides essential data on:
– Carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions
– Energy and resource consumption
– Waste generation and material recovery
Our product-specific EPD is in accordance with EN15804+A2:2019 and focuses on the environmental impact of our solar panels (75 Wp and 150Wp), providing accurate data that reflects the full life cycle of our products.
Why Does It Matter?
For architects, engineers, and construction professionals, EPDs offer credible environmental information that can be integrated into Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and building sustainability certifications, such as DGNB. With stricter EU regulations coming into force in 2025, including mandatory CO₂ emission limits for construction projects, using materials with verified environmental data will become increasingly important.
Green Energy’s EPD-verified solar panels
The EPD verification of our solar panels ensures that their sustainability claims are backed by independently validated data. The assessment follows a cradle-to-grave Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, and gives a total carbon footprint measurement of 9.86 g CO₂e per kWh. This provides architects and developers with accurate, product-specific data rather than relying on industry averages. Green Energy’s solar panels are among the few solar panels with EPD declarations. With their low CO2e emissions profile of 9.86 g CO2e per kWh, they are the ideal choice for sustainable building and construction projects.
Lightweight and durable solar roofing solutions
Green Energy’s ultra-lightweight, glass-free solar panels are designed to meet the growing demand for sustainable and efficient Building Applied Photovoltaic (BAPV) solutions. They seamlessly integrate into a building’s roof structure, offering key benefits such as:
- High energy efficiency with reliable power production from CIGS thin-film technology
- Ultra-lightweight at just 2.2kg per m², making them 4.4 times lighter than traditional solar panels, eliminating the need for additional load-bearing support
- Aesthetic integration with modern architectural designs, maintaining visual appeal without compromising on performance
- Lower carbon emissions in production as they require fewer raw materials compared to conventional silicon solar panels
- Versatile applications including installation on steel roofs and roofing felt, providing flexibility in sustainable building design
Our ongoing commitment to sustainability
We are committed to environmental responsibility and helping industry professionals navigate compliance requirements while advancing sustainable building practices. With construction regulations evolving to emphasise climate impact, we understand the importance of contributing to energy certifications and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) calculations.
As the demand for sustainable solutions grows, Green Energy will continue to innovate to ensure we meet the highest standards of environmental responsibility. The EPD marks the beginning of our ongoing commitment to transparency, continuous improvement, and supporting the transition to a greener, more sustainable future. We look forward to working with architects, engineers, and developers to integrate verified, sustainable solar technology into their projects.

About EPD
EPD Denmark publishes Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for construction products in accordance with the European standard EN15804, working towards harmonized and verifiable environmental documentation.
As a program operator, EPD Denmark ensures that Danish EPDs comply with relevant standards through control and third-party verification. The organization also defines guidelines and helps interpret EN15804 through technical committees and international collaboration.
EPD Denmark is a member of ECO Platform and ensures that all published EPDs are independently verified. An EPD is only valid if verified according to ISO 14025 and listed on EPD Denmark’s website.
EPD Denmark is non-commercial, with fees covering operations, standardization efforts, and memberships.
